About NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE

NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE belongs to the combination of steroids and antibiotics primarily used to treat eye inflammation caused by uveitis, eye injury, chemical burns, radiation, or certain other conditions. NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE is used when there is a risk of bacterial infection in or around the eye. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the conjunctiva's inflammation or infection (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid. 

NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE is a combination of two drugs: Neomycin (antibiotic) and Dexamethasone (steroid). Neomycin belongs to the class of antibiotics that inhibits the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers, thereby killing bacteria. On the other hand, Dexamethasone belongs to the class of steroids that inhibit the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling in the eyes. Thereby, it reduces redness and swelling caused due to bacterial infections.

Use NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE as prescribed by your doctor. NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE is only for external use. You are advised to use NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience irritation, redness, itching, burning or stinging sensation, the sensitivity of eyes to light, eyelid swelling, or itching. Most of these side effects of NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE should be used in children only if prescribed by a doctor. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please consult a doctor before taking NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE. Drive only if your vision is clear as NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying in eyes. You are recommended to maintain a time gap of at least 5 minutes between using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE and other eye drops.

Thereby, it reduces redness and swelling caused due to bacterial infections in the eyes.   

Directions for Use

Eye drops: Lie down and tilt your head backward. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instil the number of drops as advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids, or surrounding areas as it may contaminate eye drops. Eye ointment: Lie down and tilt your head backward. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Squeeze a tiny amount of the ointment into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes.

Symptoms include redness, itchy, and discharge or crusting around the eye. A stye, a bump on the eyelid, is also a common eye condition. Keratitis, inflammation of the cornea occurs due to frequent contact lenses, injury, diabetes, or surgery.

You are recommended to wash your hands first and tilt your head back and gently pull the lower eyelid downwards. Then, squeeze the bottle gently by holding it upside down to instil the number of drops into the affected eye as advised by your doctor without touching the tip of the bottle to the eye or surrounding areas to avoid contamination. Finally, replace the cap tightly after use. After applying NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE, you are advised to close your eyes for a minimum of 2 to 3 minutes and pressure should be applied to the corner of the eye by pressing a finger to stop eye drops from spreading into the rest of the body.

You are not recommended to wear contact lenses while using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE as it may cause adverse effects. Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before applying NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE and reinsert after 15 minutes of using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE.

NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying in the eyes. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.

You are recommended to maintain a time gap of a minimum of 5 minutes between using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE and other eye drops. However, please consult a doctor before using other medicines with NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE.

You are not recommended to stop using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE without consulting your doctor else it would worsen the infection. Therefore, use NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it, and if you experience any difficulty while using NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE, please consult your doctor.

You are recommended to use NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. However, if the condition persists or worsens after 1 week of treatment with NEOMYCIN+DEXAMETHASONE, please consult a doctor.
