Fluorometholone+tobramycin belongs to ophthalmic eye medications primarily used to treat bacterial eye infections and reduce swelling, itching, and redness. Conjunctivitis (pink eye) is a common bacterial eye infection associated with the inflammation or infection of the conjunctiva (white part of the eye) and the inner eyelid.

Fluorometholone+tobramycin is a combination of two drugs, namely: Tobramycin (antibiotic) and Fluorometholone (corticosteroid). Tobramycin belongs to the class of antibiotics that works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins that are necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Thereby, it destroys bacteria. Fluorometholone belongs to the class of steroids that works by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Thereby, reduces the redness and swelling caused due to bacterial infections.

Use Fluorometholone+tobramycin as prescribed by your doctor. Fluorometholone+tobramycin is only for use in eyes. You are advised to use Fluorometholone+tobramycin for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you based on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience eye irritation, eye redness, itchy or swollen eyelids, mild burning or stinging sensation in the eye, or eye discomfort. Most of these side effects of Fluorometholone+tobramycin do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor.

If you are allergic to Fluorometholone+tobramycin or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Fluorometholone+tobramycin is not recommended for children below 1 year of age. Directions for Use

Fluorometholone+tobramycin is for external use only. Wash your hands thoroughly before and after using Fluorometholone+tobramycin. Lie down and tilt your head backward. Pull your lower eyelid gently with your index finger to form a pocket. Instill the number of drops as advised by the doctor into the pocket of the lower eyelid. Close your eyes for 1-2 minutes. Replace the outer cap after use. Do not touch the container’s tip to the eye, eyelids or surrounding areas as it may contaminate Fluorometholone+tobramycin.

Therefore, you are advised to remove contact lenses before applying Fluorometholone+tobramycin and reinsert after 15 minutes of using Fluorometholone+tobramycin. Also, inform your doctor if you experience pain, stinging or abnormal sensation in the eye after using Fluorometholone+tobramycin.

    Fluorometholone+tobramycin may cause temporary blurred vision immediately after applying. Therefore, you are recommended to wait until your vision is clear before driving or operating machinery.

    Fluorometholone+tobramycin is not used to treat fungal infection in the eye. Fluorometholone+tobramycin is only used to treat bacterial eye infections.
