CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE belongs to the class of medication called 'astringent' or anti-allergic, primarily used to treat skin infections (cuts, wounds, small burns) and allergies. Skin infection may occur when the skin is broken, cut or wounded. An allergy occurs when foreign elements known as allergens attack and invade our body, thereby causing histamine release (a chemical messenger) that causes swelling, inflammation, redness, itchiness, watery nose, throat, and eyes. 

CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE contains Chlorpheniramine (anti-histamine) and Calamine (astringent). Chlorpheniramine works by blocking the action of histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. It directly acts on the brain and relieves allergy symptoms by preventing histamine release. Calamine is an astringent with antiseptic and soothing agent properties. So, it helps to heal wounds, cuts and burns. Collectively, both act as soothing lotions to treat skin infections.

Take CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it based on your medical condition. Some people may experience application site irritation, skin irritation, and a burning sensation. Most of these side effects of CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. 

Please inform your doctor if you are allergic to CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE or other medicines. Please consult a doctor before taking CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid using CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE if you have taken drugs such as linezolid, phenelzine, selegiline, rasagiline, isocarboxazid, tranylcypromine and methylene blue injection in the past 14 days. Cover the open wounds with a sterile dressing or bandage after applying the CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE. Wash your hands before and after using CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE.

CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE is only for external use. Take a small amount of CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE on the fingertip and apply it as a thin layer on the clean and dry affected area as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact of the CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE with the nose or eyes. In case of accidental contact with these areas, rinse with water thoroughly. Wash your hands before and after using CALAMINE+CHLORPHENIRAMINE if your hands are not the affected area to prevent the spread of infection.
