BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE

About BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE

BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE is a combination medicine used to treat pain and bleeding associated with anal fissures, external or internal haemorrhoids (piles), post haemorrhoidectomy pain (pain after operation done to remove piles), and proctitis (inflammation of the rectum). An anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus. Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are the inflamed and swollen veins in rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding.

BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE is a combination of three drugs, namely: Beclomethasone (steroid), phenylephrine (sympathomimetic agent), and lidocaine (local anaesthetic). Beclomethasone blocks the chemical messengers that cause pain and inflammation. Phenylephrine decreases swelling by shrinking the blood vessels in the affected area. Lidocaine blocks the pain signals from the nerves to the brain, thereby decreases the sensation of pain.

You are advised to use BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as burning sensation, irritation, itching and redness at the site of application. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Do not use BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE if you had a skin reaction or irritation to any steroid medicine. Consult your doctor before using BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. BECLOMETASONE+PHENYLEPHRINE+LIDOCAINE is not recommended for children as efficacy and safety have not been established. Avoid or limit alcohol consumption as it might cause constipation.

Disease/Condition Glossary

Piles: Hemorrhoids, also known as piles, are the inflamed and swollen veins in the rectum and anus that cause discomfort, pain, and bleeding. Haemorrhoids can be external or internal. Internal haemorrhoids develop within the rectum and anus, whereas external haemorrhoids develop outside of the anus region. Piles cause pain, itching and bleeding. They also cause trouble in sitting. Haemorrhoids are not life-threatening; they often go away on their own. Symptoms include itching, irritation, pain around the anus, swelling near the anus region, painful bowel movements, and blood in stools.

Anal fissure: Anal fissure is a small tear in the mucosa that lines the anus that causes pain and bleeding during or after a bowel movement. Anal fissures generally heal independently, and if the condition lasts for more than 8 weeks, it can be considered chronic. Sometimes surgery may also be needed depending upon the condition. Symptoms include tears of skin around the anus region, burning sensation, pain, and blood during a bowel movement.
