Neosaralen Forte Tablet belongs to a class of medicines called photosensitizers. It is used along with ultraviolet light for the treatment of vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition in which the skin loses colour (melanocytes). This can result in discoloured patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, and mucous membranes.
Neosaralen Forte Tablet contains “trioxsalen”, which is a photosensitive medication used along with UV-A rays. It works by activating certain skin cells (melanocytes) and helps to re-pigment the discoloured and white patches.
Neosaralen Forte Tablet should be taken as advised by your physician. The dose and course of this medicine will be decided by your doctor based on your health condition. Neosaralen Forte Tablet may cause certain common side effects like erythema (skin redness), blisters on the skin, edema (swelling), and itching. These side effects resolve on their own. However, if it persists, stop using Neosaralen Forte Tablet and consult your physician.
Neosaralen Forte Tablet should not be taken if you are allergic to it. Inform to your physician if you are using any medicines other than Neosaralen Forte Tablet and if you are pregnant/breastfeeding. Neosaralen Forte Tablet should be used with caution in patients who are allergic to sunlight, porphyria, heart/ liver disease, stomach problems, cataracts, skin cancers and lupus erythematosus condition.
