DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET is an antiemetic medicine. It is used to treat vomiting (being sick) in infants and children. Besides this, it also helps in the treatment of indigestion. In children, vomiting is a symptom of milk intolerance or food allergy.
DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET contains domperidone which is a dopamine antagonist. It works by blocking certain receptors like dopamine and serotonin which stimulate the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. It increases the upper gastrointestinal tract's motility and helps decrease stomach emptying time.
DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET cause dry mouth as a side effect in your child. If this side effect worsens, please consult your paediatrician. DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET should be given as advised by your doctor. Symptoms of nausea and vomiting may usually resolve within 3-4 days after taking DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET. However, if it does not resolve even after this, stop giving this medicine to your child and contact the paediatrician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET to the child. DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your pediatrician depending upon the type and severity of the infection.
DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET is intended for paediatric use only. Avoid giving DOMSTAL DT 10MG TABLET to your child if she/he is allergic to any of the components present in the formulation. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition including his current medications and medical history to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your child’s doctor about liver and kidney disease.
