Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's is an antiemetic medicine. It is used to treat vomiting (being sick) in infants and children. Besides this, it also helps in the treatment of indigestion. In children, vomiting is a symptom of milk intolerance or food allergy.
Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's contains domperidone which is a dopamine antagonist. It works by blocking certain receptors like dopamine and serotonin which stimulate the vomiting centre (chemoreceptor trigger zone – CTZ) located in the brain. It increases the upper gastrointestinal tract's motility and helps decrease stomach emptying time.
Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's cause dry mouth as a side effect in your child. If this side effect worsens, please consult your paediatrician. Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's should be given as advised by your doctor. Symptoms of nausea and vomiting may usually resolve within 3-4 days after taking Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's. However, if it does not resolve even after this, stop giving this medicine to your child and contact the paediatrician. Do not give more than the prescribed dose of Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's to the child. Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's can be given with or without food. The dose of the medicine will be decided by your pediatrician depending upon the type and severity of the infection.
Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's is intended for paediatric use only. Avoid giving Dom-DT 10 Rapitab 10's to your child if she/he is allergic to any of the components present in the formulation. Keep your doctor informed about your child’s health condition including his current medications and medical history to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your child’s doctor about liver and kidney disease.
