Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's belongs to the group of medications called 'antidiabetic agents' used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or adult-onset diabetes. It is a medical condition in which blood glucose levels are above normal due to insulin deficiency, insulin resistance, or both.
Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's is a combination of two medicines, namely: Teneligliptin and Metformin hydrochloride. Teneligliptin works by stopping the action of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 enzyme, which in turn increases the insulin levels in the body and reduces the glucagon levels. Metformin hydrochloride acts by decreasing liver glucose production and intestinal glucose uptake. Together, Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's helps control blood sugar levels.
Take Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's as prescribed. You are advised to take Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's may cause side effects such as nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
Do not take Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's if you are allergic to any of its contents. Do not use this medicine if you have heart failure, bladder cancer, or diabetic ketoacidosis (a complication of diabetes). Tenlip-M Forte Tablet 15's may cause 'lactic acidosis' (accumulation of lactic acid in the blood), which requires immediate medical attention. The risk increases if you are previously diagnosed with kidney or liver diseases. Do not consume alcohol or fast for prolonged periods. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
