Ulcoat Ano Cream belongs to the group of medicines known as 'vasoprotective', primarily indicated in the treatment of haemorrhoids (piles). Haemorrhoids, also known as piles, are a medical condition that happens when veins present in the anus and rectum area(the last part of the large intestine that ends up in the anus) get swell and become painful.

Ulcoat Ano Cream contains two medicines, namely Sucralfate' and 'Lidocaine' (Lignocaine). Sucralfate is an anti-ulcer drug that forms a coating over the affected area of the skin and promotes piles' fast healing. Lidocaine blocks sodium ions' influx (entry) into the membrane that surrounds the nerves, thereby preventing impulses' initiation and conduction. Hence, it gives an anaesthetic effect and helps decrease the sensation of pain.

Use Ulcoat Ano Cream as prescribed by your doctor. You are suggested to take Ulcoat Ano Cream as long as your doctor has prescribed it after checking your medical condition.  In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects, such as reactions at the application site (burning, itching, redness, and irritation), nausea, vomiting, and allergy. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Avoid or limit the intake of alcohol while taking Ulcoat Ano Cream. To treat your condition effectually, continue taking Ulcoat Ano Cream for as long as your doctor has prescribed. Do not exceed the dose and duration prescribed by your doctor. Consult your doctor before taking Ulcoat Ano Cream if you are pregnant or breastfeeding; your doctor will prescribe you Ulcoat Ano Cream only if the benefits outweigh the risks. Ulcoat Ano Cream causes drowsiness, so drive with caution. Ulcoat Ano Cream should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Inform your doctor about your health condition and medications before taking Ulcoat Ano Cream to rule out any side effects. Dosage should be reduced in persons dealing with kidney disease.
