About TRIMOP 5MG TABLET

TRIMOP 5MG TABLET belongs to a class of medicines called photosensitizers. It is used along with ultraviolet light for the treatment of vitiligo. Vitiligo is a skin condition in which the skin loses colour (melanocytes). This can result in discoloured patches in different areas of the body, including the skin, hair, and mucous membranes.

TRIMOP 5MG TABLET contains “trioxsalen”, which is a photosensitive medication used along with UV-A rays. It works by activating certain skin cells (melanocytes) and helps to re-pigment the discoloured and white patches.

TRIMOP 5MG TABLET should be taken as advised by your physician. The dose and course of this medicine will be decided by your doctor based on your health condition. TRIMOP 5MG TABLET may cause certain common side effects like erythema (skin redness), blisters on the skin, edema (swelling), and itching. These side effects resolve on their own. However, if it persists, stop using TRIMOP 5MG TABLET and consult your physician.

Directions for Use

TRIMOP 5MG TABLET can be taken with meals or milk. Avoid taking in larger or smaller amounts than advised. Swallow it as a whole with a full glass of water. Do not chew or crush the medicine.

  • TRIMOP 5MG TABLET may be taken 2 to 4 hours before exposure to UV light. In this case, before each treatment, cover the skin for at least 24 hours, and after each treatment, cover the skin for at least 8 hours by wearing protective clothing. 
  • Protect lips and uncovered parts of the body with sunblock medications. Sunblock products (sunscreen lotions) should not be used on the areas of the skin that are to be treated. Use wraparound sunglasses.
