TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S
About TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S
TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S belongs to the anti-hypertensive drugs class, primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. It is considered an essential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases.
TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S consists of three anti-hypertensive medicines, namely: Amlodipine, Chlorthalidone, and Telmisartan. Amlodipine belongs to the class of calcium channel blockers. It is a vasodilator that dilates (widens) blood vessels and increases blood flow, further improving the oxygen delivery to the heart tissue. Chlorthalidone belongs to the class of diuretics (water pill) with antihypertensive activity. It inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption from absorbing excess salts that cause fluid retention or build-up. Chlorthalidone lowers blood pressure by decreasing the amount of blood the heart pumps (cardiac output) and reducing plasma and extracellular fluid volume (body fluids outside the cells). Telmisartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists (angiotensin is a hormone that constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure). It lowers blood pressure and increases blood flow by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels.
In some cases, TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S can cause side effects like sleepiness, taste changes, ankle swelling, headache, flushing (feeling warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), dizziness, tiredness, palpitations (irregular heartbeat), and upset stomach. Most of these side effects of TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.
If you are known to be allergic to TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S or any other medicines, please inform your doctor. Before taking TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S, let your doctor know if you have any heart, kidney, or liver problems, diabetes, electrolyte imbalance, and dehydration. Avoid potassium supplements with TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S as it may lead to high potassium levels in the blood. Pregnant or breastfeeding women should also consult their doctor before taking TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S. It is advised to complete the prescribed course, even if you feel better. Please do not stop taking TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S on your own, as it may lead to the recurrence of symptoms or worsen the disease. Do not consume alcohol with TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S as it may increase the risk of low blood pressure.
Uses of TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S
Medicinal Benefits
TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S is an anti-hypertensive drug that treats high blood pressure (hypertension). It contains Amlodipine, Chlorthalidone, and Telmisartan. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and increases blood flow. It is used to treat high blood pressure, chest pain (angina), and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic (water pill). It prevents the body from absorbing excess salts that cause fluid retention or build-up. It effectively treats high blood pressure, fluid retention in patients with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis (chronic damage) of the liver, kidney disorders, or edema caused by steroids or estrogen therapy. Telmisartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist (angiotensin is a hormone that constricts blood vessels and increases blood pressure). It lowers blood pressure and increases blood flow by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels. It reduces the risk of stroke, heart attack, or death from heart problems.

Drug Warnings
Monitor your blood pressure levels regularly. If you are known to be allergic to TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S or have any kidney or liver problems or severe dehydration, please inform your doctor beforehand. Brief your medical history if you have low blood pressure, diabetes, gout, lupus (immune system disorder), hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), heart diseases (aortic stenosis, heart failure), angioedema (swelling of the lower layer of skin and tissue), anuria (low or no urine output), and asthma before starting TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S. Avoid potassium supplements with TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S as it may lead to high potassium levels in the blood. Too much sweating, diarrhea, or vomiting while using TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S may lead to dehydration; hence it is advised to drink enough fluids. TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S can affect and harm the developing baby during pregnancy. Consult your doctor before using TELMED ACT 40MG TABLET 10'S if you are a pregnant or breastfeeding mother. Disease/Condition Glossary
Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. It is considered an essential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases and can be caused due to obesity, diabetes, smoking, high salt intake, stress, lack of physical activity, or ageing. Blood pressure is measured in the ratio of systolic pressure to diastolic pressure. Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart pumps blood out. On the other hand, diastolic pressure is the pressure when your heart is at the resting stage between heartbeats. If your blood pressure is 140/90 mm of Hg, it means the systolic pressure is 140 mm of Hg and, diastolic pressure is 90 mm of Hg. The ideal blood pressure range lies in between 90/60 mmHg and 120/80 mmHg. If the blood pressure is 140/90 mmHg or greater, it is considered high blood pressure.
