Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml contains Flupentixol which works by inhibiting the dopamine (chemical messenger) receptors in the brain. Thereby, Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml helps in controlling psychotic illness by preventing the overactivity of dopamine in the brain. Thus, it helps in improving feelings, disturbing thoughts, and behaviour.
Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml will be administered by a healthcare professional; do not self-administer. Some people may experience dry mouth, drowsiness, rigidity of the whole body, muscle spasms, headache, changes in weight, dizziness, insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), nervousness, or depression. Most of these side effects of Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Drug-Drug Interaction: Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml may interact with heart-related medicines (quinidine, amiodarone, sotalol, dofetilide, digoxin), gastroprokinetic agent (cisapride), antimanic drug (lithium), antibiotics (erythromycin, moxifloxacin), tricyclic antidepressants, other antipsychotics, blood thinner (warfarin), medicines that make you feel drowsy, antiemetic (metoclopramide), antiparkinson drug (levodopa), appetite suppressant (sibutramine), antidiabetics, anticonvulsants, steroid (prednisolone), high blood pressure lowering medicines (hydralazine, doxazosin, guanethidine, methyldopa, clonidine) and hormone (epinephrine).
Drug-Food Interaction: Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid intake of alcohol while taking Spenzo Depot 20 Injection 1 ml as it may increase drowsiness.
