Retromin-Iv Infusion

Retromin-Iv Infusion is an antiretroviral medicine used in the treatment of HIV. Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) is a retroviral infection that attacks and damages the cells of the immune system. This weakens the ability to fight against infections and diseases. If this condition is left untreated, it can lead to Acquired Immuno Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS). Symptoms of HIV include fever, chills, night sweats, muscle aches, etc. This medicine is also used for the prevention of maternal-fetal HIV transmission.

Retromin-Iv Infusion contains Zidovudine, which belongs to the class of protease nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI). It works by inhibiting the nucleoside reverse transcriptase enzymes necessary for the virus's DNA reproduction. This causes inhibition of viral replication and thereby prevents further spread of infection.

Retromin-Iv Infusion may cause certain side effects such as nausea, headache, stomach pain, loss of appetite, vomiting, nausea, cough, diarrhoea, nasal congestion, fever, tiredness, muscle pain, dizziness, injection site reactions and pain at the injection site. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects persist, please consult your doctor. Retromin-Iv Infusion will be administered by a trained healthcare professional in the hospital setting. Hence, do not self-administer

Retromin-Iv Infusion should be avoided if you are allergic to it. Before receiving this medicine, inform your doctor if you have heart problems, liver/kidney diseases, haematological toxicity, severe anaemia, hepatomegaly with steatosis, lactic acidosis, or peripheral nephropathy. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, inform your doctor before taking this medicine. Consult your pediatrician about the use of Retromin-Iv Infusion in children. If prescribed, the child should be carefully monitored for any changes. Retromin-Iv Infusion is used to treat the infection but does not cure or prevent it.

• Get an HIV test done at least every three months.
• Regular kidney and liver function and bone mineral density tests while taking Retromin-Iv Infusion are advised. 
• Regular blood tests should be done while receiving Retromin-Iv Infusion .
• Retromin-Iv Infusion may still develop infections or other illnesses associated with HIV infection or AIDS. So, people receiving Retromin-Iv Infusion should be carefully monitored throughout the treatment.
