Physicuf-D Syrup 100 ml belongs to the class of medications called ‘expectorants’ used to treat cough. Cough is a common reflex action to clear foreign particles, mucus or irritants present in the airway. Physicuf-D Syrup 100 ml also treats symptoms such as runny nose, throat or airway irritation, sinus pressure or congestion, watery, or itchy eyes and sneezing associated with upper respiratory tract infections.
Physicuf-D Syrup 100 ml is a combination of six medicines: Chlorpheniramine, Dextromethorphan, Guaifenesin, Sodium citrate, Menthol, and Ammonium chloride. Chlorpheniramine is an antihistamine and works by blocking histamine, a substance responsible for causing allergic reactions. Dextromethorphan acts as a cough suppressant by blocking nerve signals transmitted from the cough centre in the brain. Guaifenesin and ammonium chloride work by helping in the removal of mucus (phlegm) from the airways . Sodium citrate is a 'mucolytic agent' that makes sputum less viscous and easier to cough out. Menthol is an organic compound that produces a cooling sensation and relieves throat irritation. Thus, together Physicuf-D Syrup 100 ml helps to relieve overall cough, cold and allergic symptoms.
