About Otiflox Ear Drops 5 ml

Otiflox Ear Drops 5 ml is a combination medicine used to treat bacterial and fungal infections of the ear. An ear infection occurs when the bacteria or fungi affect the middle or outer ear, leading to pain and inflammation. Infection of the middle ear (air-filled space behind the eardrum) is known as otitis media. In contrast, the inflammation of the external/outer ear canal that runs from the eardrum to the outside of the head is known as otitis externa.

Otiflox Ear Drops 5 ml is a combination of four drugs, namely: Beclometasone (corticosteroid), Clotrimazole (antifungal), Lidocaine (local anesthetic), and Neomycin (antibiotic). Beclometasone belongs to steroids that work by inhibiting the release of certain chemical messengers in the body that cause redness, itching, and swelling. Thereby, reduces the redness and swelling caused due to bacterial infections. Clotrimazole belongs to the class of antifungals that works by damaging the fungal cell membranes and kills fungi. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that decreases pain sensation by preventing pain signals from nerves to the brain. Neomycin belongs to the class of antibiotics that works by inhibiting the production of essential proteins necessary for bacteria to grow, multiply and increase in numbers. Thereby, it destroys bacteria.
