About Mycoderm Powder

Mycoderm Powder is a dermatological medication primarily used to treat fungal infections like ringworm, dhobi itch/jock itch, and athlete’s foot. It also prevents fungal infection due to perspiration/excessive sweating. Fungal infection occurs when a fungus invades and affects the tissue on the skin. 

Mycoderm Powder is composed of Salicylic acid, Benzoic acid, Menthol, and Starch. Salicylic acid is an anti-inflammatory agent and topical antibacterial agent. It is a keratolytic medicine, which breaks down the clumps of keratin, removes dead skin cells, and softens the skin. Benzoic acid is a fungistatic/antiseptic agent and works by inhibiting the growth of fungi. Menthol is a soothing agent and relieves irritation and itching by providing a cooling sensation. Starch acts as a skin protectant and relieves skin irritation.

Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Mycoderm Powder is for topical (for skin use) only. If the medicine gets into your eyes, nose, or mouth, rinse thoroughly with cold water. Mycoderm Powder has common side effects like warmth or a burning sensation, skin irritation, skin peeling, itching, and redness at the application site. The burning sensation may usually last for five minutes after application. These side effects of Mycoderm Powder do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to Mycoderm Powder or other medications. Do not put a dressing or bandage on the affected area unless the doctor advised doing so. Mycoderm Powder should not be applied on mucous membranes, lesions, and large areas of skin.
