MOX P 500MG TABLET

MOX P 500MG TABLET belongs to the class of medicines called 'penicillin antibiotics' with probiotics. It treats various bacterial infections of the ear, nose, throat, skin, urinary tract, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia. Besides this, MOX P 500MG TABLET prevents antibiotic-associated diarrhoea, dysentery (water loss), and infectious diarrhoea. MOX P 500MG TABLET is a broad-spectrum antibiotic effective against both gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. 

MOX P 500MG TABLET contains two medicines, namely: Amoxycillin (antibiotic) and Lactic acid bacillus (probiotic). Amoxycillin is bactericidal (kills bacteria) that works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering (protective cell wall) necessary for their survival, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria. Lactic acid bacillus is a probiotic that helps restore the balance of good bacteria in the gut (digestive tract) destroyed due to the use of antibiotics.

Take MOX P 500MG TABLET as prescribed. The dose and duration of MOX P 500MG TABLET can vary depending on your condition and the severity of the infection. Sometimes, you may experience certain common side effects like skin rashes, nausea, vomiting, bloating, and gas. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
 
Before starting MOX P 500MG TABLET, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy to any antibiotic (especially penicillin), kidney or liver problems. Consult a doctor before taking MOX P 500MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption to prevent unpleasant side effects. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects.

Before starting MOX P 500MG TABLET, please inform your doctor if you have any allergy (against any antibiotic), kidney or liver problems. Do not take MOX P 500MG TABLET on your own as self-medication may lead to antibiotic resistance in which antibiotics fail to act against specific bacterial infections. Talk to your doctor before taking MOX P 500MG TABLET if you have glandular fever (fever with a sore throat, swollen glands and extreme tiredness), lymphatic leukaemia (cancer of blood and bone marrow) or HIV infection, since you may be more prone to developing a skin rash. Consult your doctor if you are not urinating regularly or have bladder problems while taking MOX P 500MG TABLET. Consult your doctor before taking MOX P 500MG TABLET if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking MOX P 500MG TABLET to prevent unpleasant side-effects like drowsiness, and it also enhances the amount of medicine in the body leading to toxicity.

Drug-Drug Interactions: MOX P 500MG TABLET may have interaction with anti-gout drugs (allopurinol, probenecid), anticoagulants/blood thinner (warfarin), anti-cancer/anti rheumatoid medicine (methotrexate), antibiotic (tetracycline).

Drug-Disease Interactions: MOX P 500MG TABLET may have interactions with conditions such as colitis (inflammation in the lining of the colon), diabetes, mononucleosis (viral infection with sore throat and fever), hemodialysis, and kidney dysfunction.

• Antibiotics can alter the useful bacteria in the stomach, which helps indigestion. Therefore, you are advised to take foods rich in probiotics, such as yoghurt/curd, kefir, sauerkraut, tempeh, kimchi, miso, kombucha, buttermilk, natto and cheese.
• Eat fibre-rich food like whole grains, beans, lentils, berries, broccoli, peas and bananas.
• Avoid foods rich in calcium, grapefruit and grapefruit juice, as they might hinder the absorption of antibiotics.
• Avoid consumption of alcohol.
• Avoid the usage of tobacco.

MOX P 500MG TABLET may affect certain laboratory test results like urine or blood tests for liver functioning, and oestriol tests (used to check the development of the baby during pregnancy). Inform the person doing the tests that you are taking MOX P 500MG TABLET.

Infectious diarrhoea or dysentery (water loss): It is an intestinal infection marked by symptoms like diarrhoea, cramps, vomiting, nausea, and fever. Infectious diarrhoea mainly occurs due to contaminated food and water. Infectious diarrhoea is also known as gastroenteritis which is the inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract (stomach and intestine). Harmful E Coli bacteria generally cause infectious diarrhoea.
