Corticosteroids' immunosuppressive and anti-inflammatory properties, especially when used in larger doses, have the potential to reduce host resistance to pathogens, impair the ability to localise infections, and disguise infection-related symptoms. Perhaps secondary infections are more likely to occur. In general, individuals with active infections—especially systemic fungal infections—should not be treated with corticosteroids.
How to manage the interaction:
Monovate Lotion 30 ml may lower the host resistance to infectious agents, decrease the ability to localize infections, and mask the symptoms of infection. Secondary infections may also develop. It should not be used in patients with active infections unless medically necessary.
