About Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's

Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's belongs to the class of ‘antibiotic’ in combination with a ‘probiotic', primarily used to treat bacterial infections of the chest, lungs, nasal cavities (bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis), kidneys and bladder infections (cystitis, urethritis), skin infections (acne), and other infections like malaria, cholera, brucellosis (infection due to unpasteurised products), leptospirosis (infection caused by animals’ urine) and psittacosis (infection from parrots). Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's is also used to treat sexually transmitted infections like gonorrhoea, syphilis, and chlamydia and rickettsial infections like Q fever. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly.

Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's contains 'Doxycycline' (antibiotic) and Lactobacillus acidophilus (probiotic). Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic. It works by preventing the synthesis of bacterial proteins, which are the primary cursors for carrying out bacteria's vital functions. This process further inhibits bacterial growth. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic that helps restore good bacteria and reduce stomach upset and diarrhoea caused by antibiotics like Doxycycline.

Like all medicines, Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's also causes side effects, although not everybody gets them. Common side effects of Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's include diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, and photosensitivity. If any of these effects persist or worsen, seek medical advice promptly.

Brief your medical history to doctor, if you are allergic to Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's or any of its components. Let your doctor know if have any kidney or liver diseases, asthma or sulphite allergy, myasthenia gravis (muscle disorder), porphyria (genetic disease), and systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease) before starting Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's. Do not use Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's while having vaccinations with live bacterial vaccines (typhoid vaccine) since Doxycycline may affect vaccines' activity. It is advised to consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's. Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's is not recommended in children below eight years of age since it causes permanent tooth discolouration.

Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's contains 'Doxycycline,' a broad-spectrum antibiotic and Lactobacillus acidophilus (probiotic). It treats various bacterial infections of the skin, intestines, eye, respiratory tract, urinary tract, genitals, lymph nodes, and other body systems. It works by preventing the synthesis of bacterial proteins, which are the primary cursors for carrying out bacteria's vital functions. Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's effectively treats acne, pneumonia, bronchitis, Q fever or tick fever (bacterial infection caused by the bite of infected ticks), brucellosis (infection spread from animals), and psittacosis (infections spread from birds). It is also used to treat malaria, cholera, and sexually transmitted diseases, such as syphilis, gonorrhoea, or chlamydia. Doxycycline is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that prevents the synthesis of bacterial proteins required to carry out bacteria's vital functions. This process further inhibits bacterial growth. Lactobacillus acidophilus is a probiotic (live bacteria). It is used to restore good bacteria in the intestine and reduces the stomach upset and diarrhoea caused by antibiotics like Doxycycline. Lactobacillus acidophilus also effectively treats lactose intolerance, Crohn's disease (inflammatory bowel disease), bacterial overgrowth in the intestines, and vaginal yeast infections caused by antibiotics.

Directions for Use

Swallow Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's one hour before or two hours after meals, followed by a glass of water. Do not chew, crush or break it. Do not take it immediately before bed. After taking Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's, it is advised not to lie down for at least 30 minutes so that the medicine can pass quickly into the stomach and prevent irritation of the throat or food pipe.

Drug Warnings

Iron supplements, multivitamins, calcium supplements, antacids (containing magnesium and aluminium), and laxatives may bind to Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's in the gastrointestinal tract, lowering its absorption and efficiency. Hence maintain at least 2 hours gap between intake of Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's and other medications. Let your doctor know if you have any liver or kidney diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, swallowing problems, and oesophagus diseases like hiatal hernia (stomach pushes through the diaphragm into the chest cavity), myasthenia gravis (muscle weakness), reflux, asthma or sulphite allergy, porphyria (genetic disease), and systemic lupus erythematosus (an autoimmune disease) before you start Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's. Please seek medical advice if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before taking Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's. Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's may cause dizziness, hence drive or operate machinery only when you are alert. Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's is not recommended in children below eight years of age since it causes permanent tooth discolouration.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction: Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's may interact with blood thinners (warfarin), drugs treating skin diseases (acitretin, isotretinoin), heart-related medicines (digoxin), fits medicine (phenobarbital, phenytoin), antacids, calcium and iron supplements, and laxatives. 

Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid dairy products and alcohol while using Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's.

Drug-Disease Interaction: Before taking Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's, let your doctor know if you have any liver or kidney diseases, gastrointestinal diseases, swallowing problems, and oesophagus diseases like hiatal hernia, myasthenia gravis, reflux, asthma or sulphite allergy, porphyria, and systemic lupus erythematosus.

Diet & Lifestyle Advise

  • Include more fibre-enriched food in your diet, as it can be easily digested by your gut bacteria, which helps stimulate their growth. Thus, fibre foods may help restore healthy gut bacteria after a course of antibiotics. Whole grains like whole-grain bread, and brown rice should be included in your diet. 
  • Eating grapefruit during antibiotics treatment can prevent the body from utilizing Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's properly. So, avoid intake of grapefruit or grapefruit juice with the antibiotic. 
  • Avoid taking too much calcium, iron-enriched foods and drinks as it might affect the working of Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's. 
  • Avoid intake of alcoholic beverages with Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's as it can make you dehydrated and affect your sleep. This can make more challenging for your body to aid the Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's in fighting off infections.
  • Manage stress, eat healthily, drink plenty of water, exercise regularly, and get plenty of sleep.
  • Do not walk barefoot at places like gym showers to prevent bacterial infections. 

Special Advise

  • Renal, hepatic, and blood function tests are advised during prolonged therapy to rule out any toxicity caused due to overdose of Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's.
  • Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's may interfere with certain laboratory tests like urine catecholamine levels, hence inform your doctor beforehand that you are using Microdox-LBX Capsule 10's before undergoing any examinations.
  • Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD) is reported during usage of antibiotics like Doxycycline. Please see your doctor if you experience prolonged diarrhoea.
