Metrogyl-M Ointment

Metrogyl-M Ointment is a dermatological antibiotic medication, primarily used to treat bacterial skin infections, impetigo, rosacea, and bacterial vaginal infection (bacterial vaginosis). Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria invade and affects the tissues of the skin. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. Impetigo is a contagious (spread by contact) infection that causes red sores on the face. Rosacea is a skin disease that causes redness, flushing, and pimples on the face.

Metrogyl-M Ointment is composed of two antibiotics: Mupirocin and Metronidazole. Mupirocin is an antibacterial drug. It prevents the synthesis of essential proteins required by bacteria to carry out its vital functions, thus preventing bacterial growth. Metronidazole belongs to the class of drugs called nitroimidazole antimicrobials. It exerts bactericidal (kills bacteria) action and inhibits bacterial DNA synthesis and cell growth.

Use Metrogyl-M Ointment as suggested by the doctor. Metrogyl-M Ointment is for external use only. Your doctor will advise the appropriate dose that suits your infection. Common side effects of Metrogyl-M Ointment include itching, burning sensation, irritation and redness at the application site. These side effects of Metrogyl-M Ointment do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. If the side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions before using Metrogyl-M Ointment. Pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should consult the doctor before starting Metrogyl-M Ointment. Limit alcohol consumption while using Metrogyl-M Ointment to manage your disease condition effectively. No information is available for the use of Metrogyl-M Ointment in children. Hence it should be used only if prescribed by the paediatrician.

Metrogyl-M Ointment treats various bacterial skin infections, impetigo, rosacea, and bacterial vaginal infection. It consists of Mupirocin and Metronidazole. It inhibits the DNA synthesis of bacteria and certain parasites and prevent their cell growth. 

Metrogyl-M Ointment is for external use only. Avoid contact of Metrogyl-M Ointment with eyes, nose, and mouth. Rinse it off with water thoroughly if you get the medicine accidentally in these areas. Avoid applying Metrogyl-M Ointment on sunburns, lesions, blisters, and open wounds. Cover the affected areas with a dressing or bandage only if the doctor advised you to do so. Metrogyl-M Ointment is not recommended for use in diaper rash, which is often caused due to fungus. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should use Metrogyl-M Ointment only with proper doctor consultation and caution. Do not store Metrogyl-M Ointment above 25°C.
