Mahacaine Sugar Free Mint Flavour Gel is a combination of three drugs: Aluminium hydroxide, Magnesium hydroxide and Oxethazaine. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide belong to a group of antacids, whereas oxethazaine is a local anaesthetic. Aluminium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide works by neutralising excess stomach acid. Oxethazaine exerts a numbing effect, thereby provides relief from pain due to ulcers or acidic injury in the stomach.

You are advised to take Mahacaine Sugar Free Mint Flavour Gel for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. You may experience certain common side-effects such as constipation, diarrhoea, dizziness and drowsiness in some cases. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Do not take Mahacaine Sugar Free Mint Flavour Gel if you are allergic to any of its contents, debilitated (very weak), if you have severe stomach pain, partially or fully blocked bowel. Inform your doctor if you have low phosphate levels, high magnesium levels, kidney or liver problems, a low-phosphate diet or if you are taking antibiotics such as doxycycline, oxytetracycline, levofloxacin, ciprofloxacin. Avoid taking foods and drinks containing citrates along with Mahacaine Sugar Free Mint Flavour Gel as it might lead to increased serum levels of aluminium which can be harmful. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
