ESPIN LT TABLET
About ESPIN LT TABLET
ESPIN LT TABLET belongs to the class of anti-hypertensive drugs, primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Hypertension is a medical condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in the arteries. It is considered an essential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. ESPIN LT TABLET lowers the blood pressure by widening and relaxing blood vessels.
ESPIN LT TABLET is a fixed-dose combination composed of two medicines, namely, Losartan and S-amlodipine. Losartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It lowers blood pressure and increases blood flow by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels. Losartan is also used to treat stroke and slow down kidney damage in people with type 2 diabetes. S-amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and increases blood flow. Altogether, it helps to lower high blood pressure, chest pain (angina), and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.
Take ESPIN LT TABLET as prescribed. Your doctor will decide the dosage based on your medical condition. In some cases, ESPIN LT TABLET can cause side effects like ankle swelling, headache, flushing (feeling warmth in the face, ears, neck, and trunk), dizziness, tiredness, palpitations (irregular heartbeat), upset stomach, and hyperkalemia (increased potassium levels in the blood), blurred vision, difficulty in breathing. Disease/Condition Glossary
Blood pressure/Hypertension: Blood pressure is the measurement of the force that our heart uses to pump blood to all parts of the body. Hypertension is a chronic condition when blood pressure is too high. This condition can lead to hardened arteries (blood vessels), decreasing the blood and oxygen flow to the heart. Raised blood pressure can cause chest pain (angina) and heart attack (when blood supply to the heart is blocked). Additionally, high blood pressure also causes brain damage (stroke) and kidney failure. High blood pressure can be diagnosed with the help of a blood pressure monitor or sphygmomanometer. Systolic pressure is the pressure when the heart pumps blood out. On the other hand, diastolic pressure is the pressure when your heart is at the resting stage between heartbeats. If your blood pressure is 140/90 mm of Hg, it means the systolic pressure is 140 mm of Hg and, diastolic pressure is 90 mm of Hg. Ideal blood pressure should be between 90/60 mm of Hg and 120/80 mm of Hg.
