Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S belongs to the group of medications called 'antidiabetic agents' used to treat type 2 diabetes mellitus. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or adult-onset diabetes. It is a medical condition in which blood glucose levels are above normal due to insulin deficiency, insulin resistance, or both.

Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S is a combination of two medicines, namely: Teneligliptin and Metformin hydrochloride. Teneligliptin works by stopping the action of the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 enzyme, which in turn increases the insulin levels in the body and reduces the glucagon levels. Metformin hydrochloride acts by decreasing liver glucose production and intestinal glucose uptake. Together, Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S helps control blood sugar levels.

Take Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S as prescribed. You are advised to take Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S may cause side effects such as nausea, constipation, abdominal pain, bloating, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Do not take Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S if you are allergic to any of its contents. Do not use this medicine if you have heart failure, bladder cancer, or diabetic ketoacidosis (a complication of diabetes). Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S may cause 'lactic acidosis' (accumulation of lactic acid in the blood), which requires immediate medical attention. The risk increases if you are previously diagnosed with kidney or liver diseases. Do not consume alcohol or fast for prolonged periods. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.

Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S should be used with caution in patients with heart diseases. Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S may cause ‘lactic acidosis’ (buildup of lactic acid in the blood), characterized by abdominal pain, muscle cramps, vomiting, severe fatigue, and difficulty breathing; consult your doctor immediately if you experience these symptoms. Inform your doctor if you have severe liver or kidney problems. Do not consume excess alcohol as it increases the risk of lactic acidosis.

• Beware of hypoglycemia symptoms such as sweating, dizziness, palpitations, shivering, intense thirst, dry mouth, dry skin, frequent urination, etc. Whenever you experience the above-mentioned symptoms, immediately consume 5-6 candies or 3 glucose biscuits or 3 teaspoons of honey/sugar and also get in touch with your physician. Make sure to carry these with you at all times, especially for long travels.
• Eliptin M Forte Tab 10'S may lower vitamin B12 levels, so it is recommended to take blood tests regularly to check any vitamin deficiencies.
