Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet

Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet belongs to the class of medications called anti-emetics primarily used to treat nausea (feeling sick) and vomiting (being sick) during pregnancy. Morning sickness (nausea and vomiting during pregnancy) is a common symptom of pregnancy. In some cases, pregnant women experience excessive nausea and vomiting that progresses to a condition called hyperemesis gravidarum. It causes electrolyte imbalances and weight loss in pregnant women. 

Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet is a combination of two drugs, namely: Doxylamine and Pyridoxine (vitamin B6). Doxylamine belongs to the class of antihistamines that works by blocking the natural chemical (histamine) in the body, thereby preventing nausea and vomiting. Pyridoxine/Vitamin B6 deficiency may cause nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. Pyridoxine works by increasing the level of vitamin B6 in the body and helps in treating nausea and vomiting during pregnancy.

Take Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet as prescribed. You are advised to take Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as drowsiness, constipation, dizziness, or blurred vision. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

If you are allergic to Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet or any other medicines, please tell your doctor. Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet may cause dizziness, therefore drive with caution. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness. If you are taking MAO inhibitors, inform your doctor as taking them along with Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet may cause unpleasant side effects.

Do not take Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet if you are allergic to any of its contents. Tell your doctor if you have asthma, increased eye pressure, narrow-angle glaucoma, stomach ulcer, a blockage in your gut (digestive tract), liver or kidney problems. Inform your doctor if you are taking medicines for depression, cough or cold medicines, sleeping medicines, or certain pain medicines. Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet should not be taken by breastfeeding mothers as it passes into breast milk. Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet should not be given to children as safety and efficacy have not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet as it could lead to increased dizziness. 

• Do not use Doxstem 20 mg/20 mg Tablet if you have used monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) (anti-depressant drugs) in the past 14 days as it can cause a sudden fall in blood pressure and also it could lead to increased dizziness and drowsiness.
