Hypocalcaemia is characterized by low levels of calcium in the blood. A lack or inadequacy of vitamin D can cause hypocalcaemia.

CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML contains calcitriol. It increases the levels of vitamin D in your blood, which in turn raises calcium levels thus, it helps to treat patients with low levels of calcium who are on chronic renal dialysis.

CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML is given by a health care professional in a hospital or clinic setting. In some cases, CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML can cause side effects like Nausea, headache, constipation, or pain/discomfort at the injection site may occur. Most of these side effects of CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if these side effects persist longer, please consult your doctor.

Drug-Drug interactions: CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML may interact with medications used for the treatment of Tumor-Induced Osteomalacia (e.g. burosumab), cardiac glycosides (e.g. digoxin, digitalis), magnesium-containing medications (e.g. milk of magnesia), vitamins/nutritional supplements (e.g. calcium and vitamin D) and phosphate binders (e.g. sevelamer).

Drug-Food interactions: Do not take foods enriched with vitamin D and avoid a high intake of dairy products such as milk, ghee, and cheese.

Drug-Disease interactions: CALCIJET 1MCG INJECTION 1ML may interact with various disease conditions, including hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), metastatic calcification (extra deposits of calcium in the body), kidney problems, heart problems and high levels of vitamin D; so inform your doctor about your medical condition.

• Include dairy products like milk, yoghurt, cheese, or milk-based custard in your diet.
• Eat a serving of broccoli, cabbage, bok choy, spinach, and other green leafy vegetables daily.
• Snack on calcium-rich nuts like Brazil nuts or almonds.
• Sprinkle sesame seeds over your food, vegetables, and salads. Sesame seeds are high in calcium.
• Avoid or reduce the intake of caffeine, soft drinks, and alcohol that inhibit calcium absorption.
• Replace the meat with tofu or tempeh for extra calcium in your food.

Hypocalcaemia: Low calcium levels in the blood are referred to as hypocalcaemia. It is most usually caused by vitamin D insufficiency or hypoparathyroidism.
