Biopeg HP Kit belongs to a group of medicines called gastrointestinal agents which is used in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease caused by infection with a common type of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). Peptic ulcers are sores (small, shallow wounds) that develop on the intestine and stomach's inner lining.

Biopeg HP Kit is a combination of three drugs, namely: Pantoprazole, amoxicillin, and clarithromycin. Amoxicillin is bactericidal (kills bacteria) that works by preventing the formation of bacterial cell covering (protective cell wall) necessary for their survival, thereby preventing the growth of bacteria. Clarithromycin is a bacteriostatic antibiotic i.e., it stops the growth of bacteria but necessarily does not kill them. It works by inhibiting the protein synthesis process required for the growth of the bacterial cell. As a result, bacterial cells are not able to reproduce and grow. Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for the production of acid in the stomach. Thereby, reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach. Altogether, Biopeg HP Kit helps in the treatment of peptic ulcer disease.

You are advised to take Biopeg HP Kit for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, stomach pain, taste change, headache. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Biopeg HP Kit if you have a history of liver disease, kidney disease, myasthenia gravis (neuromuscular disease). Do not take Biopeg HP Kit if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Biopeg HP Kit causes drowsiness, so drive only if you are alert. Biopeg HP Kit should not be given to children as safety has not been established. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Biopeg HP Kit as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Keep your doctor informed about all the medicines and your health condition to rule out any side-effects.

• Eat smaller meals more often.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid.
• Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda.
• Avoid sitting continuously as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5minutes break every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.

• Take Biopeg HP Kit 1-hour prior food.
• Do not stop taking Biopeg HP Kit on your own.  Stopping abruptly might cause the symptoms to reappear and will make the infection difficult to treat due to antibiotic resistance.
• Make sure you drink plenty of fluids when you are sick. This will, in general help you clear out the infection faster, protect you from dehydration.

• If you feel nauseous after taking Biopeg HP Kit, stick to simple meals like khichdi, dal roti and other home-cooked meals. Avoid spicy and fatty food.

• Eat smaller meals more often.
• Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn.
• Avoid tight-fitting clothes.
• Avoid foods such as high-fat food, spicy food, chocolates, citrus fruits, pineapple, tomato, onion, garlic, tea and soda.
• Avoid sitting continuously as it may trigger acidity. Take a break of 5minutes break every hour by doing brisk walking or stretching.
