Amlee P Tablet

Amlee P Tablet is a respiratory medication used to treat common cold symptoms, such as sneezing, runny nose, nasal and sinus congestion, stuffy nose or watery eyes. The common cold is a respiratory illness that affects nose and throat and is caused by viruses known as 'rhinoviruses'. The virus enters the body through nose, mouth or eyes and spreads easily through air droplets when a sick person sneezes, coughs or talks.

Amlee P Tablet consists of three medicines, namely: Levocetirizine,  Pseudoephedrine, and Ambroxol. Levocetirizine is an antihistamine (anti-allergic) drug that reduces the effects of histamine, a chemical substance that causes allergies like runny nose and skin rash. Pseudoephedrine belongs to the class of decongestant drugs that works by reducing the swelling of blood vessels in your nose. This helps mucus and airflow more freely in the cavities in your nose (sinuses), helping you breathe more easily. Ambroxol is a mucolytic agent that works by thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in lungs, windpipe and nose.

Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the course based on the severity of your infection. Do not stop taking Amlee P Tablet on your own until the doctor advised you to do so. Like every other medication, Amlee P Tablet also has common side effects like vomiting, dryness in the mouth, stomach upset, headache, sleepiness, restlessness, sleep disturbances and allergic reactions. These side effects, if occurred, generally go away during the treatment. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.

Let your doctor know if you have any allergic reactions to medicines. It is mandatory to inform your doctor if you have heart, liver, kidney diseases, gastrointestinal disorders, stomach ulcer, prostate enlargement, urinary retention, diabetes and eye disorders like cataract and glaucoma before taking Amlee P Tablet. Please check with your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol while taking Amlee P Tablet, since it can worsen the side effects like dizziness and sleepiness. Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience dizziness or shakiness while using Amlee P Tablet. Amlee P Tablet should be used in children only when advised by the doctor.

• Regularly monitor your blood sugar levels while using Amlee P Tablet since decongestants like Pseudoephedrine can increase blood glucose levels.
• Consult your diabetologist if you have diabetes before using Amlee P Tablet so that your insulin or other diabetic medication can be adjusted accordingly to maintain your blood sugar levels.
